Match(book) Made in Heaven

Have you read it yet?  I've been waiting for weeks for it!  Maybe months...
The first issue of Matchbook Magazine is out!!!!   It is wonderful, beautiful, stylish, amazing.  I completely adore it.

I kind of have a miniscule girl crush on Katie Armour, co- founder of Matchbook.  I just adore The Neotradionalist (her blog).  If you haven't read Matchbook or checked out her blog, then click on the links and meet me back here.  I'll wait....

So I've decided that I want to go work for Matchbook.  Think they'd hire me?  There are so many things about this issue that I LOVE!!  I love the font, I love the playfulness, I love the images...  I love that Lela Rose is on the cover.  I am SUCH a Lela Rose fan!  I actually own a Lela Rose dress and its adorable!!  Wish I could have more.  Love it all.

How do I love thee, Matchbook, let me count the ways...

Your cover with Lela Rose (and her DOG Stitch!)
Puppy on a cover... sigh.

I'll take one of each, thanks

Need the dress and the dressy tank... and the striped PJs and the boots.
Oh who am I kidding, I need it ALL!

Love the layout, love the outfit, love the article

"What's in Jemma's make up bag?"... need I say more??

Another puppy!!!! Thats TWO puppies in ONE issue!!

American in Paris BLOGGER!!

Love that the pages are Red. Love the layout!  And that car...

Lela and Stitch!!  And Lela's Shoes for Payless (someday, maybe, I shall own some)

Closet pics! Closet pics! (Not Lela's closet, but I would have loved that!)

What an awesome back page!!  "What's in your bag?"

Are you as obsessed with Matchbook as me?  The only bad thing (Same as the bad thing about Lonny)? I want it in print to hold and pin up on my bulletin board!

Can't wait until next issue!!!

Oh and there were some beautiful ads too.  I plan on discussing those on my other blog soon.

A little more snow

One thing I love about Memphis is that when the snow starts falling, the entire city basically shuts down and goes home.

On Thursday, the white stuff started falling.  Hard.  Schools let out half day, I went home to Buddy early and there was enough that everything was closed Friday too.  Memphis drivers are bad enough, I definitely do no venture out when there is ice and/or snow involved.  Thats like deciding to pick up a ticking bomb- stupid and a death sentence.  Because we don't get much ice and snow, we don't have experience driving on it.  And because everyone sucks at driving on it we all stay home.

We playing in the snow Thursday afternoon.

Isn't is so pretty?

We didn't get as much as last time.  We only got about 2 inches, but more ice.

Snow baby!

Buddy just loves the snow.  He likes walking in it, he likes to watch it fall, he likes to eat it...

Too bad its all gone now.  I could use another snow day.

Every so often, I am so inspired by another blog when they feature a piece that I too must talk about it.  I read a post by Young Sophisticates about dressing rooms (and we all know I love closets!) There was an item they mentioned that I have now added to my mile long must have list.

Juliska Vanity Tray in Jardin Du Monde pattern
I'm in love with this vanity tray!!! Their suggestion was to use it for perfume bottles.  I would really like to have it to put my everyday jewelry (wedding rings, Waxing Poetic "H" necklace, pearls, bracelets) on.  I normally leave it laying on the dresser, but wouldn't it look wonderful on this??

Note to anyone:  Please buy me this vanity tray.  Thank you.

Quite honestly, I am quite the fan of Juliska ceramics anyway.  I don't actually own anything, but I like their worn in look.  I like the Jardin du Monde pattern (shown above) and the Petite Singe.

Petite Singe Pattern
There are little monkeys on them!!

Isn't that cute?  I now want some monkey plates too!

PS: Thank you so much for the help with the blog button!  I figured it out and I am so excited!  More to come on this soon.

Bloggy Failure

You know how every so often I post questions about blogging because I just don't understand?  Well, here is another one of those times...

The short story is that I was trying to make a blog button, and I made my button, but I don't understand the whole FTP site thing.  I downloaded filezilla because these instructions told me to, but now I don't understand at all about how to make it work.

All you smarter than me bloggers, is there a dumb down version of how to make a blog button (like make it link)?  How do you do it?  And what do I do with this FTP thing now??

Once again I have had a bloggy failure.

Thank you!

I am so honored to be the recipient of a blog award from not one but THREE lovely bloggers!

I am especially proud because this is the second time I've gotten it!  Does this mean I am double Stylish? (I am the fashionable wife!)  The three wonderful bloggers that gave me the award are The Belini Bunny, Jennie @ Well, Shut the Front Door! and Louba @ Beautiful or Practical.  I know some people don't play along with the whole award thing, but I think it is such an honor to be given something by a fellow blogger that says "Hey, I like your blog"  so Thank you SO much girls!  I really appreciate it.

So the rules are as follows:
1.  Thank the person (or people) that gave the award to me and link back to them-  Check
2.  List 7 things about me

Hmm... 7 things about me...
1.  I am starting a whole new life chapter.  I've been keeping something from everyone (Not really by choice) and I am anxious to talk about some things.  A revealing post will be coming soon!!!

2.  My (current) dream jobs are to be an event planner and own a bakery.  I even have the name of my bakery... but I'm not telling what it is in case I ever get to open one!

3.  I really want to have 3 children.  The hubs and I are both only children, so we want a few baby H's (no, the news is not that I am pregnant, so don't even ask).  I have names picked out for my children too. Not sure if I should share these...

4.  I don't have a facebook.  I did for a little bit, but not any more.  And I have no plans of having one again.  The hubs doesn't have a facebook either.

5.  I just got a big hair cut!  8 inches gone.  I don't have any pictures yet with my new short hair.

6.  I think I may be addicted to Starbucks.  For Real.  But, I am trying to give it up.

7.  I love to buy school supplies.  Like to the point where Charlie won't let me walk down the school supplies aisle at Target.  I love to write on the first page of a new notebook.  And I love colored sharpies.  And binders.  And notebooks...

3.  Pass this award to other bloggers (they are suppose to be recently found bloggers, but we'll see)

Jayme @ The Simple Sweet Life

Rachel @ Classic Puppy Love

Jill @ Stay Calm, Have a Cupcake!

Michelle @ Books 'n Shoes

Westcoastsoul @ You have Bewitched me body and soul...

4.  Tell them about the award... which I shall go do now!

Hope you all have had a lovely weekend!

Snowy Strawberry Cupcakes

In anticipation of the snow, I made some snowy treats on Sunday.  (They aren't like snowballs or anything, I just put snowflake sprinkles on the cupcakes).  I must say, these cupcakes are AMAZING.  Strawberry cupcakes with cream cheese icing.  From Martha, of course.

But they aren't like pureed strawberries with pink dyed batter.  These are regular cupcakes with chunks of strawberries in them.  YUMM.

Martha calls for strawberry buttercream icing, but I prefer cream cheese icing.  Strawberry cake with cream cheese icing is my favorite.

I think my cute sprinkles brought the snow.  Sprinkles are from Stay Calm, Cupcake

The hubs thinks these are the best cupcakes I've made so far.  And I don't know that I disagree.

A Snow Day

All weekend, we've had our fingers crossed for a snow day.  Luckily, we didn't even have to wear our PJs inside out, sleep with spoons under our pillows or put ice in our toilet (all of these things bring the snow, say the children in my mom's kindergarten class).

Buddy and Charlie watched as the snow started falling
We were so happy when we went to bed because all the schools were closed.  Hubs and I both work pretty far from our apartment (30 minutes for me, about 45 for him), so we knew the trek to work wasn't going to happen.

Our view this morning

Buddy loves the snow!
We went for a small walk, then headed home for lunch.

Me and my Uggs

Then we saw our little friend, Bronson the weenie dog, who loves to bark at Buddy

Buddy likes to watch him bark
After lunch, we headed to the park near us for some fun in the snow

At the park

Me and my baby

We got really dressed up for the snow... didn't even put in our contacts

Hubs made snowballs and threw them for Buddy to chase

Incredible Jumping Dog

Snow pup
Then he started eating the snow...

And rolling in the snow

Our snowy boots
I am ashamed to say that these were all shot on automatic.  I have read through my camera manual once, didn't understand a word of it, and therefore must read it over and over.  Maybe someday I'll get off automatic.
