Clutch Cravings

During the day, I carry I really large bag... I have a lot of stuff I like to have on hand!  But in the evenings, I prefer carrying something simpler when we go out so I don't have to lug so much around, especially if we are just going to dinner.

I've noticed an obvious void in my closet in the clutch department.  I only have a few.  What I really want is a fabulous, oversized clutch that would work for any occasion.

So I've rounded up some of my current clutch crushes.

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

I've seen some really cool DIYs to make something similar to #4, but I have yet to find the right clutch to start with.

Do you have a multitude of clutches?  Or do you have one perfect, any occasion clutch?  Or are you like me, and totally lacking the the clutch area.

Blazer Brigade

I am currently craving just about all of the blazers in the fall Zara collection.  Some are simple and clean, while others have great details like elbow patches, a multitude of buttons and gathered shoulders.  I know it will be many weeks before I will even entertain the thought of wearing a blazer, but it never hurts to shop early, right?

1/ 2 / 3 / 45 / 6

I really feel I need all of these... especial one, two and six.  I am dying for a red blazer.  I'm actually really loving everything red right now.

Have you started looking at fall pieces yet?  Are you looking forward to blazer weather?

Tuesday Shoesday Week #20

Sorry for the silence, friends.  Things have been crazy with work, the etsy shop and trying to get book club started (if you want to join let me know!  We have some awesome books lined up!)

I don't own any Frye boots.  I own a decent amount of boots, but no Frye boots.  And I have always heard they are like the most comfortable in the world.

If I only get one pair of boots for fall, I have my eyes set on a Frye pair.  They are super cute, a little sassy, and could totally work for day to night.  They have just enough hardware to make them a little edgy without being over the top.  Cute with jeans, cute with a dress or a skirt.  And they have a  little bit of a heel to give this short girl some height.

And I really feel that Carmen should come live with me, don't you?

What is your Tuesday Shoesday pick for the week?

Making Plans

Two things that I really love are school supplies and monograms (I recently chased after a girl leaving my yoga class because I needed to know about her monogrammed yoga mat).  I love to buy new school supplies.  I love notebooks, markers, colored sharpies, binders... I love to organize them and use them.  One of my favorite things is writing on the first page of a new notebook.  I still beg for notebooks, etc., when we are at Target. When Charlie went to go get his new school supplies, I offered to go (hoping I would get something too!) but he went while I was at work, knowing exactly why I wanted to go with him (this may sound crazy, but totally and completely true).

One of my favorite items in the school supply category are the planners.  When I was starting my freshman year of high school, a friend and I spend an entire weekend designing our own planners for the year (plain notebook, lots of markers).  I loved getting my agenda for the year for assignments, football game schedules, social activities... I STILL love having a planner with everything in it.  I like to write everything down and see my week (and month).  No Iphone calendars for me, thanks. I like my planners.

So recently I have been wanting a new planner. I currently have the kate spade agenda for 2012 (which was free and I am thinking about framing some of the pictures in it), but I really want one that starts now and goes through 2013 (oh yeah, I also like to change planners sometimes...).  I've also really been wanting one with my monogram (naturally).

I've heard a lot about the Erin Condren Planners.  People totally rave about them.  They are super cute AND it can have the monogram but it is $50 +!  That is a lot of money for a planner that I may want to change out half way through 2013...

This is the one I would choose.  Colorful, bright and monogrammed.

I was also looking at this one:

It isn't monogrammed, but it does have one of my favorite Lilly prints (you gotta regatta).  Plus it's LILLY!  And half the price of the Erin Condren planner.  (Speaking of Lilly, there is an AMAZING sale going on right now and I want everything).

I like the ones that have weekly pages AND a monthly calendar page.  Also, super girly, cute and fun.

So do you have a planner?  What brand is it?  Do you have any suggestions for me?

Cover Wars

September is by far the biggest month of the year for fashion magazines-  it is when everyone debuts the Must Haves for fall.  September issues are notoriously much larger (Vogue is 916 pages this time) and generally full on fabulous.

I still remember the Vogue 2005 issue with Sarah Jessica Parker on the cover.  I was a freshman in college and it took me like 3 days by the pool reading to finish it.  It may have been my favorite magazine ever.

Here is the line up of some of the month's covers:

Apparently September is also "Put a Musician on the Cover" month.  I have to say, as much as I love Vogue, I do not support their decision for Lady Gaga on the cover of the September issue.  I don't particularly like her anyway, but September is kind of sacred and she does not deserve such an honor... Sorry, I'll get off my fashionable soap box now.

So far, I've gotten Elle, Glamour and Vogue.  It took me like 2 weeks to get the Vogue- apparently the timely delivery of new magazines in Mississippi is on of grand importance.  I have yet to find the Harpers Bazaar.  To be honest, I won't be getting the InStyle.  I think I've bought enough magazines (once I acquire Bazaaar).

So have you read any September issues yet?  Who is your favorite cover girl?  What is your favorite fashion magazine (My favorite cover girl would be Posh, natch, but my favorite magazine in generally would be a toss up between Bazaar and Vogue...)

J.Crew Fall

This may not come as a surprise to you, but I am seriously obsessed with J.Crew.  I can't help it- it is an addiction.  The clothes are so amazing and wonderful- great cuts, rich colors, perfect prints... I just can't get enough!

Have you seen the fall collection for J. Crew?  Here's a glimpse of some of my favorite looks...

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9

And here are some of the items on my J.Crew Fall Wishlist:

So what are you wishing for from J. Crew for fall?

Calling All Readers...

Yesterday I mentioned that I really wanted to join a book club.  So then my friend said we should do an e- bookclub (see comment from last post). So we are!  I invited a blogger friend (you may know her as kjpugs... she gets famous authors to comment on her book reviews) So if you are interested in joining us, let me know!  We'd love to have you.  We haven't worked out all the details yet of the meeting- currently we are talking about using google+ video chat.

I am thinking we can pick one book a month, and then once a month we will all chat about it (and I was told we need to drink mimosas while chatting because that is what they do at book clubs).  I was thinking maybe to start we could come up with a list of some books to read and vote or something... then we could each take turns picking books each month maybe.  Or work off the list we create to start with.

I will probably blog a recap of the book club meeting too, if you want to read with us but can't participate in the meetings.

So who is interested?  Who has good ideas for how we can execute this?

Tuesday Shoesday Week #19

This week's Tuesday Shoesday pick is a fabulous little flat I stumbled upon at the amazing J. Crew.  It is classic and cute, dressy enough for work, cute with dresses and jeans.  It is adorable and comes in 4 colors!!

On a side note for those of us on a budget, I got some shoes that are similar to the black ones at TJ Maxx this weekend that are Nine West.  Normally I don't find anything at TJ Maxx and I rarely go there, but I was looking for stuff for the bar cart so I decided to peruse the shoes.

Gold toe instead of a gold heel, but for $130 less, I'll take it.  Although I sure would like to get my hands on the persimmon pair...

New York, NY

I love New York.  I've been twice- once for my 18th birthday and once for my 21st birthday.  It was pretty much the most amazing place I've ever been.  I'm always dying to go back.  But now, I am SUPER dying to go back.  Why, you ask?

I've been wanting to attend a blog conference for a while now- I am always really jealous when I read the tweets from other bloggers about their blog conference experience or read posts on it.  But this is the one I really, desperately want to go to.  Not just an IFB conference, but this particular one.  Some of the most amazing bloggers out there are going to be there.  The two I would give an arm and a leg to see are Katie Armour (she's my total obsession), Bri Emery from DesignLoveFest (this graphic designer's dream), and Taylor Sterling from Glitter Guide (50,000 kinds of fabulousness).  AMAZING. Not only will they be there, but there will also be panels with people from Saks, BCBG, Teen Vogue, the Cut, & the Glamouri.  There will also be sessions on Photography, PR, SEO, writing and more.  If I could figure out a way to get there, I would be there in a New York minute (hehe).

So I really want to try to attend the IFB conference next September, since this year just isn't going to happen (money, can't get off work, Charlie's school).  Anyone want to try to go with me?

Oh and if you really want, you could send me a bunch of money this year to fulfill my dream.  :)

August Must Haves

Even though August is typically the hottest month around here, I can't help but start lusting after all the new fall fashion that is coming out.  I tried to tone down the August picks so that they are weather appropriate, but could definitely work well into the fall.   I wouldn't necessarily call them transition pieces, but I would say that they will help the fall cravings.

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

What are you craving for August?

Tuesday Shoesday Week #18

It is no secret that I adore kate spade.  I don't own much, but I love just about every single thing that is kate spade.  I have been able to collect a few pairs of shoes over the years, and let me tell you, they are pretty much the most comfortable shoes in the world.  I wish I was in the position to buy all of the new shoes because they are AMAZING!  So my Tuesday Shoesday pick for the week is actually 5 picks...

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

So I'll take one of each.  8.5 in kate.  Thanks!

Garden Photography

Before we moved, I took on a big project of photographing a number of houses for a local landscaping company to use on ads, website, etc.  I got to visit some really large homes with some of the most beautiful yards I have ever seen!  This was definitely one of the most fun (and most beautiful) projects that I have taken on recently!

Here are some of my favorite shots I thought I would share.
