Sometimes a simple, classic outfit is the way to go, especially when it is hot and you don’t really feel like putting to much effort into it. Pair a classic striped tee and a solid midi skirt and you’ve got a winning combination.
I’m not sure at what point navy became one of my signature colors. The other is pink, and that was from birth. I did have a brief and unfortunate flirtation with purple, but I quickly saw the error in my ways. I think the navy think sort of snuck up on me. Now it is half of my closet and a good portion of my house.
I got this Everlane midi skirt last year and I absolutely love it. It is actually longer on me than it is on the model (because I am 5’4″ and everything is longer on me than it is supposed to be), but that is OK. The fact that it has pockets makes up for it! I could get it to be hemmed a bit, and I have thought about it. I just haven’t make the commitment yet. They brought this skirt back this year, but unfortunately it isn’t available in navy. But you could easily recreate this whole look with the black version and a black and white striped tee, which would be super cute! It also comes in a bright blue and a color they call rust but looks more mustardy/orange to me.
Oddly enough, Charlie told me after we took these pictures that this outfit didn’t really seem like me. It is navy and white, and there are striped involved. I am not really sure how it ISN’T me. While I was confused by his statement, a lot of times my favorite outfits aren’t ones he loves, so who knows. Sometimes outfits I think he will like he doesn’t, and ones I think he won’t like he does. I honestly don’t care one way or the other.
So what do you consider your signature color (or colors)? Or am I the only one like Elle Woods who has one (two, actually)?
