So, I am starting something new. And I am really excited about it. I don’t know how well it is going to go, but I am hoping that you will be interested and excited about it too.
It all started when I reviewed The Last Time I Lied. I obviously love to read but I also love to talk about books. And I had several people DM me and text me after I reviewed it saying they read it and loved it too. So I got to have all of these fun book conversations and I loved it! I had been toying with the idea of some sort of online bookclub for a while, and this sparked me into action.
I decided the best way to do this was through a Facebook group. That way, you wouldn’t have to be anywhere at a certain time (like a twitter chat) but you can still participate in the book discussion!
But then I decided to go further. To be honest, the internet and blogging can be a little bit lonely. Sure you get some likes and comments, but I want a place where we can have conversations and ask questions and share things. That recipe you just made and loved? Share it! Looking for something new to binge on Netflix? Ask! Looking for some workout accountability friends? This could be the place for that!
So I am rolling everything into the new Fashionable Wife Facebook Group. It is private, so you will have to join it (don’t worry, all are welcome!). You can also search The Fashionable Wife Group.
Here is what it will be:
A place to talk, to ask questions and to connect. A place to share things we love, hate and are obsessed with. A place to have fun and have conversations. I want to talk about fashion, beauty, books, movies, music, tv, recipes, fitness and anything else you want to talk about.
Here is what it will not be:
A place to share blog posts (mine or anyone elses). The exception would be if you say made a new recipe and share the link to that recipe. I really just want this to be a place to hang out, make friends and get to know each other better. I won’t be posting about sales or anything (I have a Facebook page for that already). I might share the book club review on it, but I’ll get to that.
Now on to the Bookclub:
So here is how it will work – I am going to pick a book at the beginning of the month and post it here. I may do FB live or instagram live or something around the middle of the month about it. Then the last week (-ish) of the month, I will post some discussion questions on the group page so we can have a good little chat. I am hoping to maybe have some friends pick books and have some guests join in too. Then I will post my review on the blog at the end of the month and maybe include some other reader’s thoughts (which is why I might post in the group when it is out) and announce the next book. There will also be reminders on my Instagram + newsletter + twitter so you can’t miss the new book reminder!
So the first book club pick is :
I recently finished this and I loved it. I love Ruth Ware in general. She is fantastic. If you haven’t read The Woman in Cabin 10, you must add that to your reading list as well. So I wanted to pick something that I knew would be good, since it was the first pick. I would love to pick some that I haven’t read in the future so we can all be on the same page, but I wanted something I knew would be good and be good for discussion this first time. It is a thriller, which I think is a popular genre for just a lot of people, and a favorite of mine! It was crazy and creepy, and I can’t wait to hear what you think about it!
Obviously if you join the community, you don’t have to be a part of the bookclub. I want this to be an all inclusive experience, so even if you don’t love to read, you can still be a part of it! (But hopefully I can change your mind about the reading!)
Here is the thing – in order for this to work, we’ve all got to participate. I’m going to be asking questions and things, but you have to participate too! We can’t all be best friends if you stay quiet! And I really want us all to be best friends.
So like I said, I am really excited about this. I really want to make this about so much more than my blog or my thoughts. So hopefully you will join me over there!
And since I am so excited about this, I am doing a little giveaway! I am giving away a copy of the September book The Death of Mrs. Westaway as well as a $25 Starbucks gift card! The giveaway is open to U.S. only. You will have to give me your address so I can send it to you. Please use an email address that you check regularly because that is how I will be notifying the winner. If I don’t get a response within about 3 days, I will pick a new winner.
Good luck, happy reading and let’s chat in the Facebook group!
