3 Ways To Wear: Mules

One of the most popular trends by far for fall is mules. They are everywhere – flats, heels, plain, tassels, embellished, neutrals, bright colors. There are so many different options out there! I really consider them to be a must have shoe for fall. You can opt for a classic black flat with a tassel, or maybe have a little fun with a leopard print or a pale pink! You can also find them in just about any price point, so if you aren’t so sure about them but want to give them a try, you can pick up a super cute pair at Target without spending a lot.

I know that mules might seem a little hard to style. The fact that they don’t have a back may make them seem a little intimidating, but just treat them like a loafer! Just have fun with them and don’t be afraid to experiment (some of the best outfits happen when you really mix it up).

Mules with pants seems a bit more obvious, but mules work with a dress (or skirt) too! I love pairing them with a casual denim dress, but they would also look great with a LBD for a more dressed up look.

Mules pair perfectly with denim! They work with skinny or flared jeans. If you are wearing a skinny jean, you may want to try rolling them a little bit so that they are ankle length so you can really show them off!

Mules are perfect for the office too. Pair them with a trouser or a pencil skirt. Top it off with a blouse or a blazer for a polished look.

I love the color of these mules. Blush pink was really popular for summer, and it is still going to be popular for fall. And these really work dresses up or down.

I have yet to actually pull the trigger on a pair of mules yet. I am having a hard time deciding what I want! As I said before, there are so many cute choices out there. You can shop some of my favorites below.

3 Ways to Wear: Graphic Tee

I love a good graphic tee. I think they are really fun, and when you use a little imagination, they are super versatile. My favorite graphic tees are from J. Crew. They are always so cute! Plus they are always super soft and have that worn in look. And it is my personal opinion that the best graphic tees are soft. Now, I am not a “wear a graphic tee all the time” kind of girl. but I do like to break them out every so often.

This may sound a little strange, but graphic tees can really work for just about any occasion. That may seem hard to believe, but trust me! With the right styling, graphic tees can really be a game changer. And they are the kind of piece that really work year round. So today I’ve got 3 ways to wear a graphic tee that go way beyond a basic jeans + tee look.

Graphic Tee Styling

Tee / Blazer / Pants / Shoes

I love a graphic tee under a blazer. This look is perfect for the office but also transitions well for after work drinks. Pair it with a nicer pair of flats (how cute are these embellished sling backs?) and either nice pants or a pencil skirt, and you have got a winning combo. For a casual Friday, just switch out the pants for jeans.

Graphic Tee Styling

Tee / Blouse / Skirt / Shoes

You may know I am all about layering. And a graphic tee is a perfect layering piece (over or under).Layering a graphic tee over a blouse is an unexpected way to dress it up a little. Add a mini skirt and loafers and you are ready to go. This is another great office look, but could also be perfect for weekend brunch, a movie date or casual event.

Graphic Tee Styling

Tee / Skirt / Necklace / Shoes

Why not pair a graphic tee with a dressy skirt for a fun twist? I love the combo of the laid back tee with the sequinned skirt, statement necklace and heels. This look is perfect for a night out on the town!

How do you feel about graphic tees? Love them? Hate them? Not sure?

3 Ways to Wear: Denim Skirt

I don’t know about you but I am not a cut off jean shorts kind of girl. Of course, I am not an any kind of shorts kind of girl (except work out shorts), but I am just not a fan of the cut offs. Maybe it is because I am 30. Maybe it is because I hate my legs, I don’t know. They always look cute on other people, but I just know I wouldn’t be comfortable (and being comfortable is important).

But if you aren’t one of those girls (or even if you are & you want a change of pace), you can still get a similar look without the cut offs. Enter the denim skirt. Now, that is a piece I can get behind. You can style it a million different ways and look a little bit more polished. Plus, you can wear a denim skirt to the office (depending on the office), which is something I think might be frowned upon with the shorts.

Here are 3 great ways to wear a denim skirt:

Skirt / Top / Shoes / Necklace

Headed to brunch with your girlfriends? This is a really cute look that is also super easy! Denim skirts pretty much work with everything, so throw on a dressier top and heels, and you are ready to go! This look would also be perfect for a date night or a casual event.

Skirt / Tee / Shoes / Hat

A denim skirt also works for running errands on the weekend. You can be comfortable and cute all at the same time! When paired with a tee, baseball cap and sneakers, it creates a perfect casual look so you can knock out your to do list.

Skirt / Blazer / Tee / Shoes

Obviously, this would be more for a casual Friday or if you are lucky enough to work in a more casual work environment. A blazer work great with a denim skirt, and makes it a little more office appropriate.

Even better? A denim skirt works in any season. It looks great with tights and boots in the winter.

So what are your thoughts on denim skirts? How is your favorite way to style them?

All Things Striped

I have a confession – I have a serious addiction to stripes. I can’t help myself. Half of my closet is striped. Big stripes, small stripes, colorful stripes, black and white stripes. If it is striped, I am going to want it.

This isn’t just in my closet, although the primary collection of striped items is in my closet. I have two striped chairs in my living room and striped curtains that I hope will eventually be hung in the living room as well. Our bedding is striped. I am equal opportunity stripe lover.

So today, I thought I would share my obsession. You can thank me later. These are just a few of the striped pieces I have my eye on.
