The end of August is starting to near, and so I am starting to think about fall fashion just a little bit. Not in like a “break the sweaters and the boots” kind of way, but in a hmmmm maybe I shouldn’t wear quite as many light, bright things…
I know everyone gets antsy for fall, but when it is 95 degrees out, and I see someone in riding boots, jeans, and long sleeves, I immediately think, “WHAT WAS SHE THINKING??”
This is how I handle my transition into fall because, to be honest, it will be hot here until mid October. I go summery until after Labor Day. And then I very slowly start moving away from the light, bright pieces, and start incorporating things that are a little darker and a little less summery.
A few tips for transitioning:
Mix summer and fall
I like to mix summer and fall together so start transitioning. Pair an open toe bootie with a summery dress. Or wear your white skirt with a blazer (like I did on here). There are plenty of ways to slowly start transitioning to fall without fully committing.
Wear darker colors
I start wearing some darker colors to feel a little more like fall. Start with sleeveless things. I have a couple of sleeveless black dresses that are perfect for this time of year.
Go with leopard
I always love leopard, and I think it works year round pretty much, but it is really going to be HUGE this fall. Pair a leopard belt with your white dress and some black shoes and you already feel a little fallish!
Open Toe Booties are your friend
It is still hot but you are tired of sandals. Go with open toe booties. They won’t be as hot as something closed toe or a boot (the heatstroke!), but don’t they feel like fall?
So here are a few of my picks for early fall pieces that will help you transition nicely that won’t make people think, “Is she going to pass out in that?”
So what are some of your early fall favorites? What are you most excited about wearing for fall?
