You know when you buy something and you can’t wait to wear it, even though it isn’t quite time yet? That was the case for me with this sleeveless gingham dress. I got it a few weeks ago when my mom and I went to the outlet mall. Gingham is absolutely everywhere this spring, and I love it! I honestly can’t get enough of it. So when I saw this dress, it was love at first sight. It is lightweight (which makes it perfect for the heat of the summer), super versatile and it has a cute bow in the back which I sadly did not take a picture of.
Unfortunately the weather really isn’t warm enough for sleeveless, but I was anxious to wear it, as I usually am with new things. New pieces don’t stand a chance at my house – they are typically worn within 3 days because I have zero self control.
So I decided to go for a little layering, because why not? Sleeveless dresses are perfect for layering! You can easily throw a long sleeve tee, blouse or chambray shirt underneath a dress. It looks super cute and you won’t freeze to death either.
The blouse underneath also makes it a little more office appropriate. On its own the dress is a little more casual than with the blouse underneath, which is a great way to get more bang for your buck. It would also look really cute with a blazer or a cardigan for the office. It would also be really adorable with a long sleeve tee or chambray shirt for a little bit more casual look. And for the weekend, throw a denim jacket on top.
I went with my new Banana Republic laser cut loafers, which you may recognize from my Spring shoe post. These loafers are amazing. The color is gorgeous (if it is pink, I am going to want it), and the leather is so soft. They are so incredibly comfortable. I want to wear them with everything including my PJs.
So have you started breaking out the gingham yet? I am all for it!
