When I turned 30, I said I was going to take better care of my skin. To be honest, I never have done much. I wash it every morning and evening, but beyond that, I’ve never done much. Well 30 came and went and I didn’t do anything. When I turned 31, I said the same thing. And then, I decided at New Year’s that this year one of my focuses was my skin.
A few things happened to make me really focus on it (And I am being really honest here) – first of all, I turned 30 and then 31. I really didn’t handle either of those well. Next, I started finding some grey hairs. And I REALLY haven’t handled that well. (I’m currently using the “yank it out and fast as I can” process for this). The third thing was that I noticed that that furrow line that I have in between my eyebrows no longer goes away when I am now furrowing (which probably isn’t that often…).
So I started trying some new things, tweaking and making some changes. I have fairly normal skin, but it can swing from oily to dry really quickly. But my skin is really sensitive, so I have to be careful with the products that I use. Some of these products I’ve been using a long time, some of them I have only been using for about 6 weeks. But these are the products that I am using and really loving. Some of them I use every day, some I only use once or twice a week.
I have been using Purity Made Simple Face Wash for at least 7 years. I use it morning and night. I love that my skin feels so fresh and clean after I use it, but it isn’t harsh. And it never dries me out like a lot of face washes seem to do.
I started using the Renewed Hope in a Jar moisturizer a couple of years ago, but not consistently. I started using it more consistently over the last year. I use this every morning.
My mom got me the Renewed Hope in a Jar Overnight Recharging and Refining Moisturizer for Christmas this past year, so I have only been using it since then, but I really like it. I use this every night.
I got the Purity Made Simple Face Mask last Christmas, and I love it. It is gentle enough that you can use it every day, but I stick to once or twice a week. It only takes one minute, so a lot of times I put it on after I get out of the bath or shower while I am putting on my lotion. Easy easy. And my skin feels so incredibly soft and glowy after I use it. I think maybe the glowy thing is in my head, but that is OK.
This was a little pricey, but I decided to give it a try for my furrow line. Whether it is working or not, I am not sure, but I absolutely love the way it makes my skin feel – so incredibly soft! The directions say to use this twice a day, but I am only using it at night right now. I use it all over, except on my nose. I find that 1 to 1.5 pumps is enough to cover my whole face.
About a year and a half ago, I started having problems with my nose. They weren’t really pimples or blackheads most of the time, but I had a red spot on either side of my nose that would not go away. I tried the Biore strips and that didn’t work. I tried some acne wipes and that didn’t work either. So I saw the Burt’s Bees Acne Solution cream in the store one say and decided to give it a try. I put a little on my nose in the morning and at night, and the red spots are gone most of the time.
I am using these exfoliating wipes 1 – 2 times a week, but again it says that you can use them every day. They make my skin feel super soft and they smell really good too.
When I ordered the Kiehl’s Fine Line Concentrate, I got to pick a bunch of samples with my order, which was pretty exciting. The only one I have tried so far is the overnight hydrating mask, and I love it. You put it on at night, leave it for 10 minutes, then wipe the excess off and leave it until morning. It makes my skin feel super soft. You are supposed to use it once a week. My sample had enough for 3 times, and I have used it twice. I think I might order a full size one at some point.
The only thing that I don’t use is an eye cream. The skin around my eyes is so super sensitive – I have a hard time wearing eye shadow without having problems. So I am kind of nervous to try anything. So if you have any suggestions, let me know!
Can you tell I really love Philosophy products? I have been using their products for years and I love them. They are having their friends and family sale right now (25% off with code PHILOFAM), so I’ll be stocking up and maybe trying some new things too!
So what are some of your favorite skincare products?
