Stripes will forever be my favorite pattern. I mean, if I am being honest here, half of my closet is composed of stripes. And I just keep buying more. But in the fall, another pattern starts to take a hold of my heart. When the temperatures start to drop, I become a crazy plaid person. Is there really such a thing as too much plaid in the fall and winter? I think not.
It wasn’t until after I took these pictures that this look is definitely reminiscent of my Catholic school girl uniform that I sported for 12 years. Of course, my uniform wasn’t nearly as cute and I had to wear saddle oxfords, so let’s call this an updated school uniform – more along the lines of a Gossip Girl Constance Billard uniform, where as long as you are slightly following the dress code, it is OK. Plus I’ve got the headband, so I’ve definitely got the Blair Waldorf down.
So this skirt is the third of my three pieces that I bought from Draper James when I was in Nashville (see the dress here & magnolia skirt here). I had my eye on it as soon as I saw it on the website. It is super comfortable with the drawstring waist and, of course, it has pockets!
So far, I’ve worn it to work like this and to a football game with a navy long sleeve tee, denim jacket and sneakers. So this skirt is really versatile, which is honestly so important. When it gets colder, I plan on wearing it with riding boots, a sweater and a scarf. I am thinking this chunky striped sweater would be super cute. You know I love to mix my prints!
So are you all about plaid like me? I really can’t get enough! This is your warning – you will be seeing more plaid here soon.
Quick question – am I the only person who still references Gossip Girl frequently? I also can come up with a Friends scene for just about any situation.
