We all have that feeling… you look in your closet and think, “I have absolutely nothing to wear.” Isn’t it the worse? You feel like you have worn everything a million times.
But today, I am hoping to provide you with a little inspiration for shopping your closet. By mixing and matching items that you more than likely already have in your closet and some styling, you are going to (hopefully) look at your closet of clothes with fresh eyes!
Whether it is pencil or pleated, leather or lace, a striped shirt always looks good with a black skirt. You can also add a cardigan for some color. Add a belt and/or a bunch of bangles to complete the look.
Belting over a cardigan can give a totally different look to a dress and cardigan. Use the belt to add some color if your other pieces are neutrals, or use it to accentuate your waist if the cardigan isn’t fitted.
If it is an oversized button up (think your boyfriend/ husband’s shirt), pair it with skinny jeans, jewels and heels for a dressed up/ dressed down look and try tucking in just the front of the shirt into the jeans (leaving the back tucked out). If it is a more fitted button down, try it with boyfriend jeans or colored jeans.
You know I love to layer, and layering is a great way to change up your looks. Layer a striped shirt over a button up or chambray shirt and pair it with a skirt for a simple layered look. Add a fun necklace or some bangles to complete the look.
Another way to really change a look is by layering over a dress, so it doubles as a skirt! I personally think this works best when layering over with a chambray shirt or a sweater because they are a little thicker. Another great look for making your dresses work over time is to do a dress and blazer (especially a print dress).
So take this weekend and spend a little time shopping your closet. I bet you will be surprised by all the new combinations you can think up!
