If you are looking for a piece to add to your closet than can pull double (and triple) duty, you might want to consider a sweater blazer. I had seen some on J. Crew and J. Crew factory and loved them, so I was really excited when I got this grey sweater blazer for Christmas.
I love that it is really comfortable, but also looks polished (because cute + comfy is key). It is the perfect layering piece for this time of year and is super versatile. This is the kind of piece you can start wearing in the fall and continue wearing until the middle of spring.
Whether you are wanting to wear it to the office or on the weekends, I’ve got three styling ideas for you that will work just about anywhere (except maybe the gym…).
If you are looking for a way to style it for brunch with friends, a casual date, or if you have a more relaxed office like I do, pairing it with a chambray shirt, a skirt and riding boots is a great option. This skirt isn’t similar to the one I am wearing, but it would be SO cute with the blazer & chambray skirt!
To transition it to spring, you can eliminate the scarf, swap the riding boots for some flats or loafers, and maybe go with a pastel or bright skirt instead of black (although I wear black all year).
If your office is more professional, pair your sweater blazer with an office appropriate dress and some booties. In the spring time, you can easily just do pumps instead of the booties.
What about for the weekend? Leggings and a tee are a perfect combo to go with it. Add a scarf and flats (sneakers would be cute to0), and you are ready to go. You could also make this look dressier / more office appropriate by switching out the leggings for a little bit nicer pant or crop (like this) and either stick with the flat or go with heels.
For spring, ditch the scarf, go with a crop pant and some flats or sandals and you are ready to go!
And if grey isn’t your thing or you want to stock up, it also comes in navy and black. And there is a similar camel version at J. Crew as well and I love it.
