As soon as the calendar flips to March, I start thinking about dressing for spring. Even though it is still cool in March, and we will inevitably have a cold snap (we frequently get snow in March), I still am anxious to break out the spring pieces in my closet. I get SO tired of everything wintery in my closet, and I am so ready for lighter, brighter colors. Whether it is something new for this year, or a favorite from last year, you can easily start working your spring pieces now.
One easy way to start wearing your spring dresses now is by pairing them with more wintery pieces like a blazer and riding boots. This Draper James dress is so cute and springy, but when paired with a navy blue blazer and brown riding boots, it is much more of a transitional look than an all out spring look.
Another way to transition to spring is to really mix spring and winter together. Try pairing favorites from both seasons together, like a springy skirt with a sweater. Or throw a dark pair of tights on with a lighter colored dress and top it off with a cardigan.
As for the shoes, if your outfit is more springy, go for something like riding boots. If it is a little more on the winter side, then pair it with some flats or loafers. And a happy medium is always a pair of booties. Those can go any way you want!
And of course a denim jacket is always a good way to look cute but still have that additional layer for warmth this time of year. Plus a denim jacket looks good with just about anything! There are also a lot of really cute light weight jackets that would be perfect for transitioning as well.
Just remember to have some fun and experiment! Now is the time to play with mixing seasons together and seeing what you come up with.
So are you starting to transition to spring? Even if it is just mentally? What are some of your favorite ways to transition to spring?
