You know, dressing this time of year can really be a challenge. It is just so hot. I want things that are easy, comfortable and lightweight. Because no one is happy in tight, uncomfortable things when it is 150 degrees and no sign of cooler weather in sight.
I had my eye on this tropical floral skirt from Draper James as soon as it came out, but I held off until they had a promotion. And let me tell you, this skirt is perfect for this time of year. Not only is it super cute, but it is super lightweight and it has a drawstring waist, which means it thankfully isn’t really constricting. Also, it has pockets, which means it gets an automatic A+ in my book!
I love this skirt for a casual weekend look paired with a white tee, tennis shoes and a straw bag. But it would also be cute with a button up, a chambray skirt, a pale pink sweater, a navy long sleeve tee, a green cardigan. If you want to make it a little more office appropriate, you could do a pair of ballet flats or loafers with a button up and / or a cardigan. It really is very versatile, and I am all about being versatile, as you may know.
The next time I wear it, I plan on doing a little print mixing with either a stripe tee or gingham button up. This skirt was made to be mixed with other prints.
The other thing I really love about this skirt is that it will work well in the fall too. It may be a lighter weight fabric, but because of that dark background, it will work well in early fall (you know, when you pretend it is cooler than it really is). It would be really cute with a navy tee, denim jacket and maybe some flat booties.
And the best news is this skirt is now on sale! So if you are looking for something to take you through the end of summer and into the fall, I highly recommend this skirt.
