It is easy to get lulled into the same thing all of the time. That is true in just about all areas of life, of course. I am absolutely a creature of habit, so I know all about it. But today I am specifically referring to wellness, and even more specifically fitness.
We get comfortable doing the same thing all of the time – maybe you walk or run or go to the same fitness class all of the time. And that is great that you are exercising! But sometimes it is really great to shake things up. And I don’t just mean upping your reps or your weights. I mean trying something completely different.
Charlie and I recently pulled out our bikes and starting taking some bike rides. Sometimes I go by myself, but sometimes he does come with me. And it has been so much fun! Just doing something different than I have been doing has been really nice. Not only has it been fun, it has also been a challenge!
I have been doing about 5 – 6 miles on the weekends, which I realize isn’t that much on a bike. But I am easing into it. And unfortunately we live in a very small neighborhood off of a busy 2 lane street, which I can endure for walking, but I would have to ride the neighborhood like 4 times to get a decent amount of milage. So I have to load up my bike and take it somewhere, which is why I am only riding on the weekend.
WELLNESS CHECK IN
Last month, I challenged you to try to add some weights to your routine if you weren’t already. Did you? How did it go? I have really been trying to focus on building strength lately, so I try to work out with weights 2 – 3 times a week.
How about you?
So this month’s challenge is to try something new. It doesn’t have to be for fitness, but try something new dealing with wellness – take a new fitness class, go for a walk, try to do some meal prepping, maybe focus on self care. Just try something new! I am going to continue with my biking this month. It is still new enough that I feel like it counts!
